A pleasant place to spend some time away from the crowded Doha roads is Aspire Park. Hidden away behind Villagio, it is a surpisingly large and green park, complete with children's play area, football piches, greenery and trees.

This is Doha’s largest park. It covers 88 hectares (the size of more than 80 football pitches) and has a large lake, horse riding trails, jogging track, shaded seating areas, a restaurant and plenty of parking. Although more than 700 trees have been planted, there is not an overabundance of shade, so the park comes into its own in the evenings and in the cooler months. It is behind Hyatt Plaza shopping centre.
The area is gated and security personnel are visible everywhere making the place a safe getaway for all.
Its several facilities are specifically designed to satiate the specific whims and fancies of both the expatriates and the locals.
To top it all, the visitors are charged no entry fee. The picture-postcard beauty of Aspire Park with its astounding facilities makes a visitor feel like being somewhere else.
The park boasts a huge lagoon which is becoming a major attraction, especially with an adorable flock of ducks seen roaming around the water body most of the time.
There is a fantastic fountain alley where you can actually walk through as long as you don't mind getting semi-wet.On the other side is an arched bridge which adds up to the attractiveness of the park.
However, one thing rankles the visitors-the absence of boat rides, similar to the ones on gondolas in Villaggio Mall to complete their aquatic experience. For the romantic set, the Aspire Petite Café situated in the heart of the park and facing the lagoon is fast becoming a favourite hangout.
The two-storey eatery remains open from 4pm onwards and serves a variety of drinks and snacks. Groups of families picnicking in the grassy area are a common sight, especially on weekends.
